I have been hosting summer camps for over five years now. For me it's a good time spent in great company. I have mostly hosted video camps and every time it is a thrill to see what the group will create. Some days you just feel like you are on a movie set. I love it. This year I decided to vary a little and share other passions of mine; photography and cooking. Who doesn't capture images? Let's just think about the way we do it and pay attention to it. Let's have fun with it and see what we can do. And food... past participants have liked the food here, they like it a lot. It's homemade and made from fresh local ingredients. So, I've asked a few campers last year to see who would be interested in a cooking camp. You know, basic good stuff made from scratch. Pizza, spaghetti, bread, cakes... What do you like, what do you want to learn? We can change the menu to sushi, samosas, spanakopitas, baklava's. Anyway, all of them thought it was a great idea and that they would come. Maybe they were just hungry. So, anyone interested send me a note and we'll set up a menu. Video will be used in that camp to produce a short cooking show. Fun.
- Testimonial from two past campers: "Going to film camp surpassed our expectations. Catherine taught us everything we needed in order to make a movie and she did it in a way that made everyday a new and exciting one! Once she gave us a technique or a piece of information, we had the freedom to try it out for ourselves.
As well as becoming involved in an enlightening learning experience, it didn’t take us long to feel like family. We were students, yes, but our experience went beyond learning about film. The family embraced us in a way that we felt comfortable being far away from home. The home cooked meals seemed like they came from a five-star restaurant and the music produced by the family band, Fresia & The Offsprings, was uplifting and kept the atmosphere joyful at all times." |
